The Art and Clara Butts Scholarship Foundation provides financial assistance to graduating seniors of Burwell Jr.-Sr. High School as they pursue higher education at the college of their choice. Each year, two $4,000 scholarships are awarded, distributed at $1,000 per semester for up to four semesters. This year’s scholarship recipients are seniors Karsyn Bower and Ericka Larsen. The scholarships were presented by Carolyn Christen, a member of the scholarship committee. Art and Clara Butts, longtime Burwell residents with no children of their own, believed deeply in the power of quality education and the importance of giving back to their community. Their legacy continues by helping local students achieve their dreams.
