Velma Cain, a longtime Burwell resident and former teacher at Burwell Public Schools, recently applied for and received a Thrivent Financial “Live Generously” grant to purchase items for the Burwell High School Media Center. The items included a Nebraska flag and sixteen books that focus on Nebraska history and topics. The BHS Media Center has provided several opportunities for learning about Nebraska history as 2017 marks the state’s 150th birthday. Mrs. Cain’s work and the resulting Nebraska History items are appreciated by the staff and students of BHS, and will provide an exciting opportunity for learning!
