Burwell Students Win Top Honors at Microsoft Certification

Three Burwell students have been awarded top honors for high scores on the Microsoft Office 

certification test they took during the first semester of the school year. All Burwell students in the 

Information Technology Applications I & II class took tests to become certified in Microsoft Office Word 

and Microsoft Office Excel. Deklan Svoboda placed second in the state of Nebraska in Microsoft Office 

Specialist – Excel 2010. Classmate, Lydia Elliott, placed third in the state in Microsoft Office Specialist – 

Word 2010 and Ryan Dawe was named the State Champion in Microsoft Office Specialist – Word 2010 

and Microsoft Office Specialist – Excel 2010. As the state champion, Ryan will go on to represent the 

State of Nebraska at the 2016 Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship in Orlando, Florida, 

June 28-30. Ryan will be competing in the Microsoft Office Specialist – Word 2010 division. Classmate, 

Deklan Svoboda, will compete at the National Championship in the Microsoft Office Specialist – Excel 

division.
