Burwell High School Named in Newsweek's "America's Top High Schools"

October 23, 2014

Burwell High School was recently named to Newsweek Magazine's "America's Top High Schools" list for 2014.  Newsweek’s 2014 Rankings highlights schools that do the absolute best job of preparing students for college. This year, the magazine claims that their methodology is more stringent than ever with new measures of quality and a higher standard for data. Burwell High School was further honored to be recognized by Newsweek as a place where low-income students are scoring at or above average on state assessments. This is the magazine's way of recognizing schools that narrow the achievement gap.

Burwell was one of just three Nebraska schools to make the list, including Hays Spring High School and Chadron Public Schools.  Burwell was ranked 479th and had a college readiness score of 68.67 and 85.28% of students college bound.  The school's poverty rate is 30.29%.

Congratulations Burwell Public Schools for doing an awesome job in preparing students for college!
