Accelerated Reader

The Accelerated Reader (AR) program by Renaissance Place is a computer based reading recall and comprehension program. Students take tests to measure recall of facts within the text read as well as comprehension. Books are leveled according to the ATOS level through the Accelerated Reader program. It is recommended (may or may not be required) students read within his/ her level based on the STAR testing program which is administered at the beginning of each quarter. For questions regarding your student's individual goal, please contact his/ her classroom teacher. For questions regarding the AR program, contact the librarian.

Accelerated Reader is a computer-based program teachers use to monitor reading practice and progress. Reading levels are determined on a per student basis after taking the Star Test through Renaissance Place. The results of this test along with additional assessments (MAP, DIBELs, etc) provide teachers with information to guide students to appropriate reading materials. Short quizzes can be taken after reading books to measure comprehension.
