BHS 10th Graders Attend Career Day
October 16, 2025
Burwell sophomore students attended the High School Career Exploration Day at the Kearney Nebraska National Guard on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025.
Students attended a panel presentation by local professionals to gather information and the opportunity to ask questions from several career clusters. Some of the topics that were discussed included general information about their career cluster, completing job applications, preparing for job interviews, financial literacy, and much more.
The sophomore students also had the opportunity to visit individually with several booths of local professionals and area colleges at a mini career fair. This gave students a chance to gather even more individualized information and do some career exploration with many hands-on activities. Students learned more about skills, training requirements, wage range, job demand, and the satisfaction of that career.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for sophomore students to gather information and start the career planning process by talking with several career professionals,” said Miss Julie Tetschner, School Counselor. “We are thankful for this free event sponsored by the Nebraska National Guard and the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce Education and Leadership Committee.”
The sophomores ended the day with lunch at the University of Nebraska at Kearney and then a campus tour of UNK.
