Longhorn Spirit Shoppe Goes On the Road For Chamber of Commerce Event

October 13, 2025

The Longhorn Spirit Shoppe, a student group that uses technology, engineering and graphic design skills to create items for the school or to sell in their shop, went on the road on Saturday, October 11th, for a Burwell Chamber of Commerce event, "Touchdowns, Tailgates & Thank-Yous." The fall Chamber event happened on the northwest corner of the square in Burwell and had games, great breakfast food and drinks, kids rides and the Longhorn Spirit Shoppe.

The Spirit Shoppe was set up to inform the public about the services and products that BHS students offer. All students in Mrs. Weber's Innovative Technology and Digital Design classes participate in the Shoppe as part of their curriculum. As they learn about new equipment or gain new skills they develop a product that uses that skill, calculate costs, propose a selling price, predict their target market, and make a prototype. They also give a presentation in class with all of this information as they share their ideas.

The students not only offer customized novelty spirit items, t-shirts, caps, and laser engraving, but they also offer graphic design services such as logo or sign creation.
