Burwell Public Schools Acquires Shark 520 CNC Router with Perkins CTE Grant Funds
September 07, 2025
Burwell Public Schools is excited to announce the acquisition of a Shark 520 CNC router, made possible through funding from the Perkins Career and Technical Education (CTE) grant program.
The new CNC (computer numerical control) router will be a valuable addition to the school’s Skilled and Technical Science (STS) programs, giving students hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing tools used in today’s workforce. With the Shark 520, students will be able to design, cut, and engrave precise parts and projects, preparing them with real-world skills in areas such as engineering, design, and fabrication.
This addition is an incredible opportunity for students, as it allows the school to expand curriculum and provide hands-on learning experiences that directly connect to high-demand career fields. STS instructor, John Novicki, will utilize the new CNC router in his classes to give students the opportunity to learn new, hands-on skills.
The Perkins CTE grant program provides federal funding to strengthen career and technical education nationwide, ensuring students gain the academic and technical skills needed to succeed in a global economy.
Burwell Public Schools remains committed to providing innovative learning opportunities that prepare students for college, careers, and lifelong success.
