Experience Teaching Program Provides Real-World Learning Opportunities

September 20, 2026

The Burwell Public Schools Experience Teaching Program provides high school students with a meaningful opportunity to explore the teaching profession through hands-on experience in the classroom.

Students who have a strong interest in pursuing a degree in Education meet with school counselor Miss Tetschner to discuss their goals, identify a cooperating teacher, establish expectations, and determine what they hope to gain from the experience. Throughout the program, students complete weekly reflections, interview their cooperating teacher, interact with students, and have the opportunity to plan and teach a lesson.

Over the years, the Experience Teaching Program has developed into a valuable learning experience that allows students to gain firsthand insight into the responsibilities and rewards of being an educator. By participating, students are better prepared to determine whether a career in education is the right path for their future.

We are proud to support these students as they explore their passion for education and take their first steps toward becoming future educators.
