BHS Partners with Local Businesses to Offer Custom Graduation Cards for Sale
April 29, 2025
Burwell High School students who are taking technology classes with Mrs. Weber recently had the opportunity to partner with two local businesses to learn and provide a quality product. Students Calah Archibeque, Shaylee Hulinsky, Preslee Stout, Lena Spencer, Shay Skalsky and Boston Klanecky used the principles of design to create graduation cards that are for sale exclusively at the Burwell Pharmacy.
The project began because the Burwell Pharmacy expressed frustration with ordering graduation cards that are available in appropriate quantities for small towns. The generic cards from large companies aren’t always geared toward a small town consumer base either. So, the students set to work to find opportunities to help. Their first call was to Quiz Graphic Arts in Ord, Nebraska. After a field trip to the Quiz facility a partnership was formed to have the graduation greeting cards printed there.
The students researched cards, papers and costs while they created digital card designs. The staff at the Burwell Pharmacy then made recommendations, chose their favorites, and ordered stock for their store. The Quiz did a great job printing the cards, which were delivered to the Pharmacy last week by Boston, Shay and Lena. The students had a wonderful, real-world experience in design, printing, resale products, cost analysis and marketing.
The special cards can be purchased exclusively at the Burwell Pharmacy for graduation and each purchase will help the Longhorn Spirit Shoppe and BHS students continue to learn and grow in their technology classes. Thank you to the Burwell Pharmacy and Quiz Graphic Arts for partnering with BHS students and providing a wonderful opportunity!
