Connealy Angus Family Marketer Shares with BHS Students
February 10, 2025
Hannah Connealy, a small-town ranch family member from Whitman, Nebraska, shared her experience and vision with students from Mrs. Weber’s technology classes and Mr. Simpson’s ag classes on Friday, February 7th via Zoom.
Hannah wears many hats at her family’s ranch, Connealy Angus Ranch, but has really settled into her role as the operation’s marketing and events manager. She explained that after college she moved away from Nebraska but never really left her agricultural roots. When she wanted to return to her rural ranch home, she knew that she needed to add value to the operation so she capitalized on her skills to take over the marketing of the family’s registered Angus bull business and ranch.
Hannah answered questions from the students and explained that her real goal with social media marketing is to be “authentic” and listen to customers. She also explained that the transition to social media marketing wasn’t always smooth as her family wasn’t comfortable in front of the camera and wasn’t sure about the value of this method of marketing. However, she has since had several posts go viral and has had mostly positive feedback. The students were interested to hear how she deals with negative feedback and the impact that she has had in educating consumers about their methods on the Connealy Ranch.
The students were also excited to hear about what types of content are popular with followers and which platforms Connealy Angus uses. They had a good conversation with Hannah about the types of social media that are popular with teenagers and also learned about sponsored posts on social media.
Hannah explained that she has really worked to make their bull customers feel special because, “there are tons of people selling bulls” so the relationships and experiences that customers have with their ranch are what keeps them coming back. Due to their remote location, Connealy Angus has lots of amenities at their sales so that people will remember it as a positive experience and want to come back.
Hannah was a welcoming guest and the students took a lot of good information away for their session with her. Mrs. Weber’s students commented that it was interesting to hear about careers that involve agriculture and technology. They also noted that Hannah’s authenticity and friendly personality were a big asset to her family’s operation. The group really appreciated Connealy Angus and Hannah Connealy for their willingness to share with them.
