The Nebraska Department of Education released the AQuESTT (Accountability for a Quality Education System, Today and Tomorrow) ratings for the 23-24 school year recently and Burwell Public Schools was excited to receive a "Great" district rating. AQuESTT is the Nebraska Department of Education's framework for school improvement and accountability. AQuESTT emphasizes a holistic approach to education, integrating academic success with other factors that contribute to student well-being and preparedness for life beyond school. NDE provides ratings of "Needs Improvement," "Good," "Great," or "Excellent" for all Nebraska public schools and even rates individual schools within the district. For Burwell, Burwell Elementary School received a "Great" rating, Burwell Middle School received a rating of "Great" and Burwell High School received a rating of "Excellent" to contribute to the overall district rating of "Great." This is the first time since the implementation of AQuESTT in 2017 that BPS has been "Great" or "Excellent" in all four domains.
As part of this framework for accountability and improvement, the Nebraska Department of Education provides an online platform called the "Nebraska Education Profile" as a comprehensive tool for accessing educational data about public schools across the state. The NEP offers transparency to help parents, educators, policymakers, and community members understand various aspects of school performance and educational outcomes that contribute to the overall rating of schools. The NEP gives access to performance metrics, students demographics, school environment, financial data, accountability ratings, and more information for every public school in th state.
