BPS Celebrates National Principal Appreciation Month in October
October 23, 2024
October is National Principal Appreciation month and Burwell Public Schools has reason to celebrate, with two of the very best Principals on staff! "Principals are the heart of a school community. They set the tone for a culture of respect, learning, and collaboration. Through their vision, dedication, and leadership, they inspire teachers to grow, students to succeed, and the entire school to flourish. A great principal doesn't just manage a school—they nurture its spirit, empower its people, and ensure that every student is given the opportunity to reach their full potential."
Mr. Nathan Nelson is in his first year as Principal at Burwell Elementary School but is not stranger to the school or the community. He previously served as the Special Education director at BES and grew up in Burwell. He resides in Burwell with his wife Haley, who is a teacher at Ord Public Schools. Some fun facts about Mr. Nelson:
- Favorite subject when he was a student: Social Studies
- Best Part of the Job: Interacting with students
- Favorite Meal: Steak, Mashed Potatoes, and Asparagus
- Dream Vacation: A relaxing trip to the Maldives or to Glacier National Park/Banff Canada
- Favorite Improvement or Project Since he Became Principal: Adjusting and revitalizing the Longhorn Pride Program
Mr. Adam Stolzer is in his third year as BHS Principal, but he too previously served at BPS as a teacher. He was a Math teacher and Boys Basketball coach at BHS prior to taking the position as Principal. Mr. Stolzer has two young children, Leighton and Osborne, and resides in Burwell with his wife, Rachelle. Some fun facts about Mr. Stolzer:
- Favorite subject when he was a student: Anything with Math, but he really liked Statistics.
- Best Part of the Job: Never doing the same thing in back to back days. He likes to be out and about helping out where he can.
- Favorite Meal: Tacos and Pizza
- Dream Vacation: Anything with his family.
- Favorite Improvement or Project Since he Became Principal: He has enjoyed our Longhorn Support Days. He has also thoroughly enjoyed being a part of an admin team that works each day to find way to improve our practices and be the best we can for students and staff so that their experience is next level.
Thank you, Mr. Nelson and Mr. Stolzer to your dedication and leadership.
