The public is invited to join the students and staff of Burwell Public Schools for a community pep rally on the Burwell Square on Friday, September 13th at 2 pm. High School students will travel uptown on trailers provided for each class, leaving the school at approximately 1:45 pm. The elementary school will dismiss at 2 pm and if students would like to attend the pep rally, parents will be responsible for transporting and monitoring them.
Prior to the pep rally on Friday, students will celebrate with a tailgate lunch of grilled burgers provided by the Burwell Public Schools Local Beef Donor Program as well as outside yard games following lunch.
Other activities during the week include a girls Flag Football game and a Boys Volleyball game, a Ro Sham Bo (Rock, Paper, Scissors) tournament throughout the week, a hallway decorating contest in the high school as well as spirits day that include the following dress-up days:
Monday - ‘Merica Monday (show off the best red, white, blue)
Tuesday - Teacher and Student Swap (students dress like teachers, teachers dress like students)
Wednesday - Adam Sandler (Dress like your favorite Adam Sandler character)
Thursday - Soccer Mom and BBQ Dad
Friday - Purple and white
The week will culminate with volleyball games on Thursday evening against the Fullerton Warriors and a football game against the Sandhills-Thedford Knights on Friday. The coronation of the Homecoming Royalty will follow the football game on the field. The Homecoming Dance for students in grades 7-12 will take place on Saturday night from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm in the high school Commons Room.
