Burwell Tech Students Visit Quiz Graphic Arts

Three Burwell High School students in Mrs. Weber’s Striv/Social Media Design class traveled to Ord to tour the Quiz Graphic Arts studio and production facility on Monday, October 9, 2023. Calah Archibeque, Shaylee Hulinsky and Regan Smith met with Christina Foth to learn about graphic design, careers in the industry and the many services that Quiz Graphic Arts provides to the region.
The students were able to see the process of design creation for print from a Graphic Artist on staff and hear about the education path that she took. They were then granted the opportunity to tour the production portion of the business to see the detailed steps for screen printing, sublimation, print production, and more. They were very interested to see how the Quiz staff was able to develop designs with their creative process, get approval from the customer and then actually bring the creation to a physical product–all done with awesome technology!
The students asked Christina about the businesses’ online store, their website creation software, payment software, and their social media presence. It was especially exciting to see the willingness of the Quiz staff to work with customers to make their vision come to life; even if it is something that they have never done before. They also commented that there was so much to see at the Quiz that they could have spent an entire day there!
The class has been working on graphic design as they create social media posts, visual announcements and work on other print products for the school. They are also working on designing projects that are created with tools that the school purchased with a Weverka Learning Academy grant and recently completed product proposals for a Longhorn Spirit Shop. The class worked with Mr. Stolzer, the BHS Principal, to print a community report for the School Board meeting. It was great to tie all of the things that they have learned in these projects into the careers and business aspects found at the Quiz Graphic Arts studio. The entire staff at the Quiz was welcoming and helpful and Mrs. Weber is very grateful for the opportunity to share their talents with the students.
