Students Enjoy Their Last Nutrition Lesson with Extension Educator

Burwell students enjoyed their last nutrition class with Kayla Hinricks from the UNL Extension on Friday, May 3rd. The taste test this week was apples. Students sampled four kinds of apples: Granny Smith, Gala, Red Delicious, and Fuji, and for each apple students considered the appearance, aroma, flavor, and texture. Kayla told the students that there are over 2,500 kinds of apples, but the grocery stores only have room for the most popular. The students enjoyed the apple tasting and then were treated to a breakfast bake of maple apple french toast. Students learned quite a bit about nutrition in the six short lessons with Kayla and we appreciate her time and efforts.
