K-6 Elem PE Lesson Plans

Mr. GARRETT MANN

September 22, 2017

Lesson Plans are Subject to Change due to weather conditions or conflicts in gym use.
Students should be prepared to have PE shoes and use the gym in extreme heat, cold, or raining days.


5th/6th PE will be held in the high school gym 10:45 to 11:45 am.
5th grade 10:45 - 11:15, 6th grade 11:15 - 11:.45. On special circumstances PE will be held at the elementary in the gym or outside.

Classroom Rules
1.  Be Respectful, Responsible, and prepared for class--PE shoes.
2.  Students will find and memorize their exercise SPOT in the gym. Students will be expected to stay on their SPOT for various exercises and instructions.
3.  No food or drink in the classroom only clear water bottles.
Classroom Management Plan
1. First offense student will receive a verbal warning.
2. Second offense student will receive time out of the activity.
3. Third offense student will report to the Principal.

Students will find and memorize their exercise SPOT in the gym. Students will be expected to stay on their SPOT for various exercises and instructions.  Conditioning--Coordination Skills-  Skipping, Backward
skipping, Galloping, Back pedaling, Karaoke, Sprints    

Objective-Students will learn the positive benefits of being, in good cardio-vascular condition and becoming more athletic when doing coordination skills.                              
Stretching---various complete body stretches leg lifts, push-ups, pull-ups. 
Objective-Students will learn that increased flexibility and
strength will improve their over all athletic ability. 
Classroom management goals

students will Try My Hardest.
Objectives:
by the end of the lesson students will be able to: 
1.)  Share and take turns while participating in physical activity.                     
2.)
Move in personal and general space using levels, pathways, directions, and tempos.

4.) Show self-control during skill practice.

JUMP ROPE
Objective--Jump rope fundamentals.

Students should be able to demonstrate the following jump rope skills.

DIFFERENT WAYS TO JUMP ROPE

1.)  2 FOOT JUMP FORWARD 45 SECONDS
2.)  SKIPPING  FORWARD 45 SECONDS
3.)  1 FOOT  JUMP FORWARD  45 SECONDS
4.)  2 FOOT  JUMP BACKWARDS 45 SECONDS
5.)  SKIPPING  BACKWARD 45 SECONDS
6.)  SNOW SKIER FORWARD 45 SECONDS
7.)  STRADDLE JUMP FORWARD 45 SECONDS
8.)  CRISS-CROSS FORWARD 45 SECONDS.

1.) Students will jump rope one day a week on a weekly basis to improve their athletic ability.

Event practice for Track & Field day, long jump, high jump, 100, 200, softball throw, etc.

     Objective-  Students will have a chance to learn the rules and fundamentals for each event.  Students will have a chance to see which events they have better chance of getting a ribbon in. 

    Evaluation- students will realize the benefits of working hard in PE during the school will hopefully help them have a successful field day.

Weekly-Conditioning day-1 Mile Run.
During winter months will do the PACER Workout inside for conditioning.
K-Will run the quarter-mile. 1st-2nd Will run the half-mile.
Conditioning Evaluation-
Ask students the following questions: 
1.) What are the benefits of cardio-vascular conditioning.
2.) What ways can students do on their own to stay in good shape.                                  
3.)
Remind students of the president's physical fitness testing.      
4.) Students will try to run or jog the mile without stopping.
  

Push-ups and Sit ups before running the mile.  

UNIT- SHORT SIDED GAMES

Kickball/Wiffle Ball Objectives-

1.)  Kicking.

2.)  Throwing .

3.)  Catching.

4.)  General understanding of baseball, softball rules.

Goals

1.)  Students should be able to start increase distance and accuracy of Kicks.
Hitting with a wiffle ball bat

2.)  Students should be able to kick, catch, and throw  

3.)  Students should be able to understand rules of baseball/softball

Fundamental Objectives

1.) Kicking form-keep eye on the ball, use plant foot, drive through with kicking foot.

2.) Passing form-arms at level surface, bend the knees.

Game: Kickball/Wiffle Ball.
