Working...
To end the first semester, a group of Ms. Pitkin’s 6th-grade class at Burwell Elementary took book reports to a new level by turning their favorite reads into interactive projects. Students had the option such as creating a board game, play, movie trailer, diorama, or scrapbook based on a book they had recently read to show a deep understanding of the content in a fun and engaging way.
The results were nothing short of impressive. Fin crafted a board game inspired by Snow Treasure, complete with 3D printed dice and pawns as well as a laser engraved board. Ayden also chose the book Snow Treasure and presented a detailed diorama featuring Lego characters set in a carefully constructed backdrop. A movie trailer brought excitement to the classroom as Eleana combined puppets, voiceovers, and video editing to bring scenes from the book, Into the Woods, to life. Meanwhile, a beautifully created scrapbook project from Brianna featured many pages offering personal reflections on the book, Free Water.
Each of the projects brought the books to life. The group ended the project with a showcase of their books, presented by each student. Although it was a challenge, the students enjoyed the exciting new project.
