2021-2022 School YearThose of you that remember your sixth grade year in my class know Gerda Weissmann- Klein. She is the reason the poem by Goethe is inscribed on our Children's Peace Monument and the inspiration for teaching about overcoming adversity and still having the courage to give love. She will live on in the lives of not only those who loved her, but those who were inspired by her wisdom, strength, compassion and strong spirit. "I pray you never stand at any crossroads in your own lives, but if you do, if the darkness seems so total, if you think there is no way out, remember, never ever give up. The darker the night, the brighter the dawn, and when it gets really, really dark, this is when one sees the true brilliance of the stars." Gerda Weissmann-Klein
