BHS Welcomes New Art Teacher

Burwell Jr. Sr. High School welcomed a new art teacher to the teaching staff for the 2017-18 school year. Emily Heerten will be teaching the 7-12 art classes. Miss Heerten grew up in Springview, Nebraska, and graduated from Keya Paha High School. She attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha and graduated with a Studio Arts degree along with a K-12 teaching certification. She also has a 7-12 Endorsement in English as a Second Language.
Miss Heerten will be teaching 7th & 8th Grade Art, Art I, Art II (2 dimensional), and Art III (3 dimensional). She is excited to be back in a rural community where she can get to know students and their families. She is also excited to see what her students will create this year. Emily’s interests/hobbies include hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, and fishing. In her free time, she works on artwork which consists mainly of printmaking and painting.
