Burwell Students Focused on Service

by Candace Cain

October 02, 2016

Students from the Burwell High School class of 2020 (the freshman class) and some members of the Burwell FCCLA chapter painted the concession stand at the Field of Dreams on September 17th, 2016. Students worked from 10am-2pm on the project and even got to enjoy a pizza lunch for their hard work.  Miss Julie Tetschner and Miss Cain are the class sponsors for the class of 2020.  Miss Cain also is the FCCLA advisor.
The freshman class has a goal of doing a service project each quarter this year.   These students are looking forward to doing projects that give back to the community of Burwell since the community is so great about supporting our schools.  Students are looking forward to helping with the nursing home Christmas party, reading for touch downs, and painting at Nebraska's Big Rodeo.
Burwell Family, Career, and Community Leaders of American (FCCLA)  also took some time to help class members with the Field of Dreams project.  FCCLA members will be working on other service projects this year like Operation Christmas Child, Trick-or-Treat for Unicef,  door decorations for the nursing home, and the Park View Plaza Bingo party.
